Frequently Asked Questions
Popular Questions
-
How do I pay you?
We send our customers invoices using Square who accept all the major debit and credit cards. You can pay online or in-person with your debit or credit card.

We prefer online payments over any other form of payment, but can be flexible to your needs.
-
You're never available, how far in advance do I need to book?
Because we have limited space, it means we get booked up quickly; it is both the perk and the pain of using a home-from-home boarding business.
For school holiday periods, we get booked up well in advance, over 12 months ahead in most cases.
For seasonal periods, expect 3-6 months, and for any other time, 2-3 months ahead.
-
What do I need to bring?
We provide almost everything your dog needs to have a great stay. The only two things you need to provide are:
- Food
- Any medication (should your dog require it)
We provide everything else, such as beds, bowls, toys, and treats, for your dog. However, if there is a favourite towel or bed that your dog is particularly attached to, please feel free to bring that along.
-
Do you require a deposit?
Yes, we do require a deposit for some bookings. We're a small doggy daycare and boarding with limited capacity and, especially at peak times, a cancellation or two has a disproportionate effect on the business. It also affects all the other dogs that would have booked but weren't able to do so.
-
What dogs do you take?
As a small home-boarding setup, we have to be quite selective about who can join the club. There are certain types of dog we simply cannot take, and all others undergo an assessment based on multiple factors to establish whether or not they would be a good fit.
Dogs we can’t accommodate:
- Puppies under six months old
- In-season bitches
- Incontinent dogs
- Dogs on the banned breed list
During the pre-screen, we consider the following:
- Breed
- Sex
- Is the dog neutered
- Age
During the assessment, we observe the following:
- Temperament
- Toilet training
- Socialisation
- Anxiety/Wellbeing
-
When can I pick up and drop off my dog?
We try to be as flexible as possible to work around your schedule. We just ask for three hours' notice between the hours of 7 am and midnight.
-
Do you walk dogs off lead?
Yes, we do, subject to a transition period. We start by walking your dog on a lead to build up a relationship and rapport, before eventually transitioning to off-lead walking with a tracker, and then finally completely off-lead.
Off-lead walking is never guaranteed. It depends on the circumstances, and a dogs' behaviour can mean that they have their off-lead walking revoked. This is always to ensure their safety that of other dogs where we share the public spaces.
-
Can my dog sleep on your bed?
We often have one dog sleep with us when they board. Most dogs sleep downstairs in the kitchen dining area, though some prefer our bedroom, some prefer a crate (we have all sizes available).
In cases where dogs are or become anxious at night, especially during their early first visits, they are invited to sleep on the bed. This helps us, in turn, get our own sleep.
We can only accommodate one dog on the bed at a time. If you know your dog needs to stay with us on the bed, please talk to us beforehand so we can ensure this can be accommodated during their planned stay.
-
Are you registered and insured?
Yes, we are a five-star registered and licensed dog boarding and home boarding establishment with Uttlesford District Council. 22/0820/ABOARD
Unfortunately, they do not publish their licences on a public register. Instead, they recommend that you phone them on 01799 510510 or email
This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to verify. However, we do on occasion send Uttlesford District Council a Freedom of Information request and publish the list of registered animal licence holders in the area for your convenience. Please note that this should not be seen as a completely exhaustive list, nor is it an accreditation or recommendation of any of the establishments, nor can it be guaranteed to be fully up to date. It is always best to check directly with Uttlesford District Council.

What happens in an emergency?
In the event of an emergency, we will first contact any emergency service that may be needed, whether that is the police, vets, or the fire brigade. We will then notify you at the next available opportunity. Should you be unreachable, we'll then move on to your emergency contact.
-
Incidents
For incidents that are not an emergency but require prompt handling, we will contact you as soon as possible. If we are unable to reach you, we will then move on to your emergency contact.
It is therefore very important that your nominated emergency contact can:
(a) be reachable, and
(b) optionally, be able to collect your dog at short notice.
Incidents can include:
- Aggression
- Escapes
- Eating something they shouldn't
- Minor injuries
- Anything else that we can typically handle but which may require us to isolate the dog
This is why we always make sure to reach out to talk through the incident and what options we can offer to deal with it.
-
Can my puppy stay?
Dogs under six months old are unfortunately unable to stay with us.
Puppy socialisation
We are happy to introduce your new furry friend to the pack via socialisation meets outside of the daycare setting. This is a good opportunity for your dog to socialise with other dogs and get to know us before joining the pack. This isn't a service we charge for. Instead, it is something we do in the local community to help socialise new dogs in the area.
